The Company's offerings can be categorized into three groups: passive components, Kyocera electronic devices (KED) resale and connectors. Its passive electronic component products include ceramic and tantalum capacitors, film capacitors, varistors and non-linear resistors manufactured in its facilities worldwide, and passive components manufactured by Kyocera Corporation of Japan (Kyocera), a public company. AVX also manufactures and sells electronic connectors and interconnect systems. It also distributes and sells certain electronic connectors manufactured by Kyocera.
BRIEF: For the nine months ended 31 December 2005, AVX Corporation's revenues increased 2% to $994.8M. Net income increased 5% to $51.7M. Revenues reflect increased revenue from Passive components segments & KED Resale segments. Net income also reflects higher interest income due to increased investment rates on higher cash & investment balances and lower provision for taxes due to $1.9M non cash income tax benefit.
